Your best time to post on TikTok is in TikTok Studio, and almost everyone reads it wrong. Open your profile, tap the menu, open TikTok Studio > Analytics, go to the Followers tab and scroll to Most active times.

Here is the part that catches people: that chart is in UTC, not your local time. TikTok prints follower activity in Coordinated Universal Time no matter where your account lives. If you are in New York and the chart peaks at 1am, that is 8pm your time, which is a completely different instruction.

TLDR: Read Most active times in TikTok Studio, subtract or add your UTC offset, then test your top three windows for two weeks and keep the one with the best first-hour watch time.

Mydrop data, September 2026: across 7,945 posts on 336 accounts connected to Mydrop, measured in each account's local time, the weekday made almost no difference: every day sat within 2% of the account's median. The one clear loser was posting between midnight and 6 am, 17% below the median across platforms and 36% below on Instagram. Method and full tables in the Mydrop social media benchmarks.

Pull the chart and convert it (5 minutes)

  1. Go to your profile and open the menu, then TikTok Studio. On desktop it is at tiktok.com/tiktokstudio.
  2. Open Analytics, then the Followers tab.
  3. Scroll to Most active times. You get activity by hour and by day of the week, for the last 7 or 28 days.
  4. Write down your top three hours, then convert every one of them out of UTC.

If you do not see Analytics at all, switch to a Business or Creator account under Settings and privacy > Account. It is free and takes a minute.

Three things to know before you trust the chart:

  • It shows when followers are open in the app, not when they watch your videos through to the end. Those overlap, they are not the same.
  • You need a few hundred followers before the curve means anything. Below that it is noise.
  • If your audience is spread across countries, the curve flattens. Check Followers > Top territories and schedule to the local time of your biggest one.

Timing matters less on TikTok than on Instagram, and here is why that changes the test

On Instagram, a post gets one main push into the feed and the window is short. On TikTok, the For You feed keeps re-testing a video with new audiences for days, and videos routinely pick up views a week after publishing.

So do not expect a 3x swing from timing alone. What timing actually buys you is a strong first hour: enough of your followers around to watch, finish and rewatch, which is the signal TikTok uses to widen distribution.

That means you measure the right thing. Views at 30 days will barely separate your windows. Views and average watch time in the first 60 minutes will.

No data yet? Start with these windows

Borrow a starting point and let the test replace it. All times local to your audience:

Account type Windows to test Best days
Creator / entertainment 12–2pm and 7–10pm Tue–Thu, Sun
Local business (B2C) 11am–1pm and 6–8pm Tue–Fri
Ecommerce / product 12–1pm and 8–11pm Thu–Sun
B2B / professional 7–9am and 12–1pm Tue–Thu

Tuesday through Thursday are the most consistent days for almost every account type, with a second reliable block on Sunday evening. Treat every row above as a guess your own data will overwrite in two weeks.

Comparing first-hour view and watch-time numbers across posting windows on a dashboard

Test three windows for two weeks

  1. Pick three windows: your top slot from Most active times (converted), your second slot, and one wildcard from the table.
  2. Rotate through them for two weeks. Aim for at least 12 videos so each window gets four or more. Fewer than that and you are reading luck.
  3. Keep the videos comparable. Same rough length, same format, same hook style. Test one variable or you learn nothing. Caption style counts too, so keep it steady (here is what caption lengths actually work per platform).
  4. Log two numbers per video at the 60-minute mark: views, and average watch time.

The hard part is being awake for your own windows. If your best slot turns out to be 10pm Sunday, batch the two weeks in advance and schedule them to the minute with a content calendar. Mydrop publishes to TikTok for you and keeps the per-video numbers together, so the comparison at the end is a five-minute job rather than a spreadsheet evening.

Read the results without fooling yourself

  • Drop your single best video before averaging. One breakout will crown the wrong window.
  • A winner is consistent, not lucky. If a window won on average but lost half its head-to-heads, it did not win.
  • Ties go to the earlier window. Earlier videos get a longer first day.
  • Check the daily curve, not the total. In Mydrop's analytics you get a daily time-series per profile, which makes it obvious whether a window performs every week or spiked once.

Then commit. Put your strongest video in the winning window, use the runner-up as the second daily slot, and stop thinking about it.

Re-check once a quarter. Active hours drift with seasons, school terms and daylight saving, and one viral video can change your whole follower profile.

Do this today

Open TikTok Studio, write down your top two active hours, convert them out of UTC, add one wildcard, and schedule the next two weeks into those three slots.

Running this for more than one account is exactly the job Mydrop was built for: schedule every TikTok post to the minute and compare windows per profile without exporting anything. You can start free and have the two-week test scheduled today.

If Instagram is your other main channel, the method is the same but the chart lives somewhere else and is already in local time. Here is how to find your best posting times on Instagram.

FAQ

Quick answers

Open TikTok Studio from your profile menu, go to Analytics, open the Followers tab, and scroll to Most active times. Convert those hours from UTC to your audience's local time, then test your top windows for two weeks.

They are not wrong, they are in UTC. TikTok reports follower activity in Coordinated Universal Time regardless of where you are, so a 9pm peak on the chart is 9pm UTC, not 9pm where you live. Add or subtract your offset before you schedule anything.

Less than on Instagram, because the For You feed keeps recommending a video for days rather than pushing it once. It still matters for the first hour: early watch time and completion rate are what tell TikTok to widen distribution.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the most consistent for most accounts, with a second strong block on Sunday evening. Your own Analytics beats these averages once you have two weeks of comparable posts.

One to three times a day is the usual range, and consistency beats volume. If quality drops to hit a number, post less and put the time into the first three seconds of each video instead.

Not one you can measure across accounts. In Mydrop's September 2026 data on 7,945 posts, every weekday sat within 2% of the account's median. Time of day matters more: posts published between midnight and 6 am local time ran 17% below.

Stop coordinating around the work

If your team spends more time chasing approvals, assets, and publish details than creating better posts, the problem is probably not your people. It is the workflow around them. Mydrop brings planning, review, scheduling, and performance into one calmer operating system.

Managing 14+ social platforms felt like a 2 a.m. nightmare until Mydrop. The AI brand-voice mapping is scary accurate, and the client approval portal saved me easily 15 hours this week alone. It's the ultimate set-and-forget workspace for busy agencies.
A true automation tool for scheduling (and creating) social media content! It has saved me over 20 hours of work already in just my first couple weeks. A true game-changer for anyone in business, big or small!
Finally tried Mydrop on a test client and the white-label portal on a custom domain actually looks legit, no Mydrop branding sneaking in. The OAuth setup saved me from the usual “what's my password” back-and-forth.
